Promotes and protects the optimal health status of school age children; provides health assessments such as vision, hearing, dental, and scoliosis as well as EPSDT screening and initiates referrals to parents, school personnel or community resources on abnormal findings; provides treatment for minor illness and injury within the standard of nursing care and school nurse protocol as per school district standing orders and parental guidelines; administer daily medication that must be given during school hours with physician's order and signed parental permission form.

Minimum Requirements: Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi and is licensed by the Mississippi Board of Nursing and is certified in CPR.
